Known as Cornithea “RIO” Henderson, his recent work includes choreographing Usher’s “My Way” Las Vegas residency and the “Past, Present, Future” tour. Henderson also served as the creative force behind Usher’s dance routines during his Super Bowl Halftime performance.
Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Henderson began his dance career at the age of 13, quickly establishing himself as a powerful and versatile performer. He received training at the Center of Contemporary Arts in St. Louis, the American Ballet Theatre, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
At 18, Henderson relocated to Los Angeles. After collaborating with renowned choreographers such as Jamaica Craft, Aakomon “AJ” Jones, and Fatima Robinson (“The Color Purple”), he transitioned into choreography himself.
Throughout his career, Henderson has worked with a roster of high-profile artists including Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera, Ne-Yo, and Prince. His television credits include “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “Saturday Night Live.” While he appeared in films such as “You Got Served,” “Stomp the Yard,” and “Dreamgirls.”
